Photography As A Passionate Art by CameraGurl

I know you’re probably saying to yourself, what can she mean by that? If and when you are photographing anything, ask yourself why do I want to photograph this? Any one can press a shutter button on a camera. Why would you want to if you are not passionate about the subject? Photography is an art. In any media, whether it is painting, sculpting, pottery, poetry, or music, it is passion that makes it come alive. Why else would someone devote serious portions of their life to their art?

What is passion?

No it’s not having the hots for somebody, that is not the passion I’m referring to. The passion that I am referring to is for something. For me that is photography. If you go to this online dictionary it describes passion in many ways. This is the most accurate definition of passion in reference to what I am talking about:

"Any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate."

Let’s get real. When it comes to art we either love it or we hate it. I do not photograph anything that does not inspire me with passion. Why else would I be filled with excitement about what I have photographed? Why even bother to take my camera out of it’s case if not for passion in the subject? My challenge to any photographer either amateur or professional: get passionate about your art. If your photography does not inspire you emotionally, maybe it is what you are photographing. Maybe it is not having the ability to edit the photograph for the end product that you envision.

If so, you don’t have to go to college or photography school to learn the basics. The Internet is full of artists just like us, who have had all these same issues with their photography and are willing to share their experience with us.

Get passionate and google what you want to know!
